Jim Zinter’s sweet ’57.
The 1957 Chevrolet Belair was purchased in June of 2013 from Charlie & Donna of Red Bluff, California. The car had set for almost three years since Charlie was going blind & couldn’t drive anymore. Two Hollywood producers were trying to buy the car, but Charlie wanted it to go to someone who would appreciate it & sold it to me. I have been offered opportunities to put the car in local movies but chose not to.
The off frame restoration was completed in 1980. The lacquer paint, interior & chrome are unchanged.
I have added new front suspension, disc brakes, shocks, Classic Instruments, Raingear Wiper System, Vintage Air Conditioning, 2 ½” Magnaflow Exhaust, Retrosound BT Radio, American Wiring Harness,
700R4 Transmission with 2100 RPM Stall Speed Torque Converter, 383 Stroker Engine, Modified driveline, Rear Window & Windshield, Seat Belts, American Mags & Tires. This is a daily driver during the summer months of Washington.
Thanks to Gary Proctor of Speed Shine, Ray Danielson of R& D Automotive, Keith Russell, Performance Exhaust & Mel Proctor for all the help in making this my Dream Car.
Most of the new parts were purchased from Danchuks, Classic Chevrolet & Summit Racing. Griots products have been used exclusively.
A special thanks to our Car Club, Northwest Classic Chevrolet Club.
This was my retirement present after 47 years of working.
